In an attempt to control an anti-gentrification demo, German riot police have charged hundreds of Antifa protesters in Berlin, where they’d gathered in city’s hip Neukolln quarter. The estimated numbers of protesters ranged from several hundred to 2,000.

‚Long Night of the Weisestrasse‘ | Pub eviction protesters clash with Berlin police

Berlin protesters held a demonstration decrying the eviction of local left-wing pub ‚Syndikat‘. The rally was called for after the long-contested pub received a clearing order from police. Police set up barricades in the area and protesters gathered overnight in a move of solidarity for the pub, which over the last 35 years emerged as a centre of the district’s left-wing scene.
